Lushly Happy

I’ve had this really strange feeling for the past little while.  Kind of indescribable.  Joyous, happy, but something beyond it that give me an deeply lush emotional feeling similar to running my fingers through a lover’s thick hair as I hold them close and can breathe in their scent.  It’s unusually simple, but also extremely complex in both its quaking intensity and its flowing mellowness.  It’s not needy, nor is it demanding.

Last night, I saw the red moon in its ¾ beauty hanging so close to the earth it looked as though it was slumbering in the boughs of the trees.  The last time I saw a red moon was on Christmas Day of 1999 as I drove down Lakeshore Drive in Chicago.  It was one of those once in a lifetime things for me, or so I thought.  Guess we do get second chances to experience the better things in life if we open our eyes.

Okay, so the kids have arranged sleepovers tonight.  I was putting the major spin on it…”Isn’t it great, you both get to hang out with your friends all night, and have a sleepover.”  Joe turned to me and said, “Well, so do you.”  Good point, Joe.

The heart has reasons that reason does not understand.
