All in all, it was a positive week. It went too slowly for me, anxious to start my holiday weekend, but I persevered until 3 pm on Friday. My boss decided to call early close, because he gets these fits of memory loss about needing to bill hours incessantly throughout the month. I’m the only one who took him up on it—guess I have to talk to staff about work-life balance again.
Thursday was evaluation day. The 360-degree rating process, wherein those above you, below, and wit’ ya all evaluate your performance is a scary, scary thing. Especially when you aren’t quite sure who they’re asking. I was presented with mine and could feel the blood pressure rise just a little with anticipation. Once I read through it, I nearly cried, it was so nice. I once again counted myself fortunate that I work for such a great company, with mentoring leadership and congenial co-workers. Not one day have I worked for this company without feeling both valued and appreciated. Guess it doesn’t get any better than that, does it?
So, with the two extra hours in my life, first, I ran out and bought new bumper stickers for the car. A small thing, but I would not feel complete driving around without making a statement for any longer. I then tackled the paperwork pile that I have been shoving in my file drawers for the last three or four months. I knew I needed to find a few things I had postponed attending to, and found them, dispatching them to the “completed” pile. Found those pesky PowerSchool passwords so I can verify Em’s insistence that she “didn’t have any homework,” as she plays on Neopets each afternoon. The “to do” pile is now quite small and I have a handle on the filing once again. And, finally, I picked up the Notorious B.E.N. at the airport. He made it about 30 minutes before he asked if his best friend could spend the night. They are still sprawled across the living room.
Monday night, I’m going to finally get around to setting up that budget on Excel. That should be fun…really. I’m sick that way.
