A perfect Sunday morning….I rose and read my paper, kinda sorta…sippin’ my Dew, then spending some quality time with JMD before getting breakfast and making preparations for Game 3 of the WNBA finals between the Sacramento Monarchs and the Detroit Shock. I’m a little worried, because the Shock, known as the “Bad Girls” thanks to “Bad Boy” Coach Bill Laimbeer, double teamed key players Ticha Penichiero and Kara Lawson and held DeMya Walker to 10 points in Game 2.
Yesterday rocked! We went to Lake Natoma to the CSUS Aquatic Center and rented a kayak and a hyrdo-bike. We spent the afternoon waterbound, digging in sand, lounging at beach, rowing the kayak, hiking the trails (if ever-so briefly), and swimming around. Who knew what treasures Sacramento had for us? This little family excursion was rated a 10 by the Hahns at Home.
Update: Monarchs win 89-69! With the win, the Monarchs improved to a league-best 12-2 all-time at home in the playoffs. We were freakin’ awesome and dominated from the second quarter on. The Bens were in attendance as was JMD and moi, which guaranteed a home win (I am taking full credit—the karma, you know). Next, and possibly final game is at Arco Arena on Wednesday. The dilemma—do I buy tickets or don’t I? Watch them kick butt in person or on ESPN2?
Tomorrow, we head out for the final day of “Chalk it Up” at Fremont Park. The annual event raises money for the Sacramento Arts Council. People buy a “square” of sidewalk and create anything from simple stick figures to detailed and wonderful pieces of temporary art. I hope to have some pics tomorrow.
The Benster leaves tomorrow afternoon. He’s spent almost every minute with his best friend Ben. I am glad he had a great time, but sorely wish I had had more time to spend with him. Christmas is his next visit. Another perfect weekend, tinged with a little bittersweet sadness at not having the #1 boy around more often. He’s doing great though with his job and in school, so that’s all I can ask for, right?
