Life's Lessons

  • You can look at the world through rose-colored glasses if you want to

  • It’s not a requirement to answer the phone just because it rings

  • It’s better to just go ahead and tell the boss about the broccoli on her teeth

  • Just when you think people can’t sink any lower as a species, someone will do something profoundly kind and restore your faith in humanity, and that someone can be you

  • There’s a reason the ladder says, “don’t stand on top step,” especially when working with a gallon of paint

  • Children are not as resilient as we think

  • Sometimes we just need to listen

  • You’ll never change the guy who every morning pushes the “up” button on the elevator incessantly thinking it’s going to make it get there faster

  • Only some of the people will ever be happy, no matter what we do

  • Choices control our destiny

  • Believe it when your new clothes say, “may not be color-fast, wash before wearing”

  • You never have to stand by when someone is being cruel

  • First impressions count most

  • When they say “don’t touch the exhibits” at the museum, they mean it

  • Creativity comes in many forms—even some we’ve never heard of

  • You can’t fix people

  • When you get put-together furniture, it’s not a good sign if there are extra parts when you’re done

  • Sometimes, “Because I said so,” is good enough
